This award recognizes the author of the best monograph of a group of plants, fungi or allies to encourage the publication of monographic treatments by scientists at an early stage of their career.
Dr. García-Martín, who did her PhD on the molecular systematics of the order Physarales (Myxomycetes), under the supervision of Dr. Carlos Lado and Dr. Juan Carlos Zamora, received the Prize for their multigene phylogenetic study of Physarales, during a ceremony held in Geneva, on 29th March.
