November 21, 2023: Carlos de Mier, our lab mate expert on scientific photography, has visited the University of Costa Rica (UCR), from 23rd of October to 2nd November. Carlos has installed a fixed imaging station in the herbarium, and has trained technicians and students in charge of managing this equipment, which will be used for the digitization of specimens.
He has also taught two theoretical-practical workshops on scientific microphotography and the appreciation of nature for students and lectures of the “Escuela de Biología UCR San Pedro de Montes de Oca” and the “Sede de Occidente” in San Ramón, and an additional workshop on field scientific photography for students and teachers of the “Reserva Forestal Grecia”.
We have no doubts that the students involved have learned a lot from Carlos, and that this profitable international visit will produce scientific results very soon!
