June 3, 2016: An international team of scientists led by Dr. Carlos Lado from the Real Jardín Botánico, CSIC (Madrid, Spain), that included Dr. Arturo Estrada-Torres (Autonomous University of Tlaxcala, Mexico), Dr. Asunción Cano (Natural History Museum of Lima, Peru), Diana Wrigley de Basanta (U.K.) and Italo Treviño (Instituto científico Michael Owen Dillon, Peru) completed a sampling trip to Peru in April. An important number of samples from the dry interandean valleys and “altiplano” of the Peruvian Andes have been collected during the three weeks of field work. The study of these samples will help us to better understand myxomycete diversity in these previously unexplored Neotropical arid zones.
