October 7, 2021: The article “Spore ultrastructural features and significance of their diverse ornamental elements in the evolutionary history of the order Trichiales (Myxomycetes, Amoebozoa)”, led by Dr. Iván García-Cunchillos, has been recently published in the European Journal of Protistology. It documents spore ultrastructural features in several members of the order Trichiales by using scanning and transmission electron microscopy, showing that, individually, they do not reflect evolutionary relationships within the order. However, the combined study of spore characteristic plus capillitium ornamentation helps to discern natural groups within Trichiales. Have a read on the article here.
